During Match No. 7 of the IPL 2025 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, March 27, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s top opener Travis Head was given not one, but two lifelines in a single over.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to field first to start the game, believing his hitters would chase any target the SRH lineup set. The choice appeared to pay off right away, as Shardul Thakur scored two consecutive runs in the third over. Ishan Kishan was removed for a golden duck after he nicked a ball down the leg side to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. He had previously dismissed Abhishek Sharma for six, caught by Nicholas Pooran.
Head sought to establish a collaboration with Nitish Reddy at a time when SRH needed stability. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi delivered the sixth over, though, and LSG had a fantastic chance to dismiss the Australian batsman twice.
Head hammered a lofted shot down the ground to Pooran at long-on on the opening ball of the over. Known for having a steady hand, the West Indian came beneath the ball just in time, but he lost his balance and spilt the catch. Four balls later, Head smashed a short delivery right back at Bishnoi, who was unable to hang onto his right hand despite sticking it out in his follow-through.

Prince Yadav sent Travis Head packing
The Australian raced to 47 off just 28 balls, smashing five boundaries and three sixes, as SRH reached 71/2 by the end of the seventh over. However, just when it looked like the 31-year-old would take the game away, LSG pacer Prince Yadav struck in the eighth over, just moments after the strategic timeout. The young pacer bowled a full delivery that went through Head’s defense, dismantling the middle and off stumps.
