[WATCH] IPL 2025: Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen take KKR bowlers to cleaners in Kotla

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hitters dominated the first innings of their encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The hitters who caught the eye were opener Travis Head and wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen, who kept the runs coming at Kotla on Sunday, May 25 in IPL 2025 Match 68.

The Orange Army openers had already started strongly, and while Sunil Narine eventually dismissed Abhishek Sharma, Head and Klaasen continued to play brave strokes to ensure the side did not lose momentum in the first innings. The two powerful hitters put up 83 off 35 deliveries for the second wicket and eventually reached half century. The Hyderabad duo’s comeback left the KKR bowlers with no solutions.

Travis Head was finally dismissed after scoring 76 runs off 40 deliveries, including six fours and six maximums, for a strike rate of 190.

Klaasen went on to remain unbeaten till the finish of the innings, scoring his second IPL century in the process. Klaasen scored 105 off only 39 deliveries. His innings featured seven fours and nine sixes, with a strike rate of 269.23. This knock sent him into the record books, making him the joint third-fastest centurion in IPL history, alongside former cricketer Yusuf Pathan.

Orange Army is set to earn their redemption.

The Hyderabad franchise finished the first innings with a score of 278-3 and will be seeking to make amends for their previous two games against the defending champions. The two teams last met at Eden Gardens, when the Knight Riders won by 80 runs after successfully defending a total of 200.

The Pat Cummins-led side also met the Men in Purple in the IPL 2024 finals, which were held in Chepauk. The Sunrisers were swept out for 113, and the Kolkata franchise eventually chased down the total in 10.3 overs.
