At Eden Gardens on April 3, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by an overwhelming 80 runs. After losing to the Mumbai Indians (MI), KKR recovered well by batting first and scoring a dominant 200 runs. Venkatesh Iyer (60 off 29) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (50 off 32) drove their innings, while Rinku Singh added the final flourish with a blistering 32 off 17 balls.
SRH found it difficult to counter KKR’s well-organised bowling attack. The standout of the match was Vaibhav Arora, who destroyed the top order with taking vital wickets of Heinrich Klassen, Ishan Kishan, and Travis Head. He was named Player of the Match after finishing with figures of 3 for 29 in four overs. In the meantime, Sunrisers were bowled out for just 120 in 16.4 overs after Varun Chakravarthy (3 for 22) dominated the lower order.
SRH needs to reorganise: Varun Aaron
Varun Aaron, a former Indian pacer, thinks SRH should support themselves in spite of their difficulties since doubts would begin to surface. In contrast to KKR’s hitters, who amassed a substantial total, the right-arm pacer acknowledged that they were unable to evaluate the conditions. Aaron also highlighted that SRH needed to regroup after dropping three early wickets, but they were unable to do so. The Jharkhand spinner acknowledged that KKR’s resounding victory was largely due to Arora’s early breakthroughs.
“A team needs to support themselves for a few more games, but this is when doubts start to sneak in. They are currently doing a poor job of evaluating the match situation and the conditions. They ought to have stabilised after losing three early wickets, much like KKR did when Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane helped them reach 200 runs. However, SRH was unable to do so. Aaron stated on JioStar that Vaibhav Arora deserves all the praise for his three vital wickets, particularly those two early breakthroughs.

“His award of Man of the Match made me very happy; this performance was well-deserved. Three of the opposition’s main players were dismissed, which changed the course of the game. Despite Travis Head attacking him from the first delivery, he bowled remarkably effectively, supporting his abilities. He produced at the appropriate times, stayed true to his distances, and showed no signs of giving up. Regarding Arora’s spell, the right-arm bowler remarked, “He put on a fantastic effort tonight.”
