Shamim Hossain struggled against Varun Chakaravarthy in India’s Asia Cup 2025 match versus Bangladesh, which was held on Wednesday, September 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh were 65/3 in 9.4 overs when Shamim came out to bat, chasing a score of 169 in the vital Super Four match. He joined forces with Saif Hassan, and Bangladesh would have hoped the two young batsmen might form a partnership to help them go closer to the aim.
Shamim, on the other hand, only lasted one ball against Varun Chakaravarthy, who bowled the southpaw with a flat delivery from around the wicket.
Shamim left himself some space, hoping to knock the ball through the offside. However, the delivery did not meet his expectations. The ball smashed the Bangladesh batter’s leg stump to the ground, and he departed for a three-ball duck.

Bangladesh eventually got dismissed for 127 in 19.3 overs. India put down five catches, as they struggled with the “Ring of Fire” at the stadium. Saif Hassan, who was given four reprieves, waged a lone battle, scoring 69 off 51 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India, finishing with figures of 3/18 in four overs. Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Earlier in the match, Abhishek Sharma scored a breathtaking half-century off just 25 balls. He was run out for 75 off just 37 balls. Abhishek was adjudged Player of the Match for his whirlwind knock. With this win, India managed to book their place in Sunday’s final. They will be joined by the winner of Thursday’s clash between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
