The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season launch will see the return of the reigning Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the legendary Eden Gardens.
After winning the title of indisputable champions last season, KKR is ready to take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first game of the 18th edition of the championship.
In the upcoming season, KKR hopes to build on their success. As the mainstay of KKR’s triumph the previous season, Varun Chakaravarthy believes the club needs to identify its core in order to succeed this season.
According to Varun Chakaravarthy, “the squad looks good.”
“I believe the key is to figure out the formula and have the top playing XI play consistently.” Our chances of winning this season are excellent if we can establish a core in the first three games.
Chakaravarthy put a lot of emphasis on consistency when asked how he is getting ready for the season following a fantastic few months with the Indians, where he helped the team win the Champions Trophy. He also mentioned that he has a few new variations that he might test in the IPL.
“The main thing is working on consistency, which is the hardest thing to master, and I’m working really hard to get there,” the mysterious spinner stated.
Naturally, I’m also working on a few additional items that I hope will be well received in the forthcoming games.
Although Chakaravarthy has previously had a lot of success against RCB, the spinner claimed that the circumstances were more favorable to him in those games rather than identifying what makes him successful against the team.
“..the situation of those matches [against RCB] which helped me pick wickets,” Chakaravarthy said.
“In all those games the conditions and the situations were completely favourable towards us so I was able to extract the best possible result.”
KKR will be looking forward to adding to the winning streak with wins in the last 4 consecutive games against RCB. With a favourable 20-14 head-to-head record, the defending champions will be eager to kick off their title defence with a victory.
