Varun Aaron, a former cricket player for India, was all praise for Vipraj Nigam, a newbie for the Delhi Capitals (DC) who has caught everyone off guard. The uncapped player, who is making his IPL 2025 debut, has displayed bravery and produced exceptional performances thus far. In four games, the 20-year-old legbreak bowler has claimed five wickets at an average of 20.20.
He has shown a lot of confidence in the IPL and has only recently begun playing cricket in the domestic league. He kept the pressure on the team last night by dismissing Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He gave up just 18 runs and took two wickets in four overs. Not to mention that he caused Phil Salt to run out, which fundamentally altered the course of the match.
Varun Aaron emphasised how important it is for young domestic bowlers to demonstrate their abilities in the IPL.
Young people now have the opportunity to shine and take centre stage for the greater good thanks to the platform. Vipraj has been a good ‘investment’ for DC, according to Aaron.
“Vipraj is a fantastic addition to the Delhi Capitals; he was outstanding tonight. As we’ve seen, he can be destructive with the bat in addition to his contributions with the ball. In the future, he will be a wonderful return on the Delhi Capitals’ investment. Aaron stated on JioHotstar, “We need more domestic players like him to step up in the TATA IPL and help take their teams over the finish line.”
In the last game against RCB, DC was excellent. When the host team played at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, they got the support they were hoping for. The supporters, however, were disappointed by their subpar performance. The cameos of Tim David (37* off 20) and Phil Salt (37 off 17) allowed RCB to score just 163 runs in the first innings.
KL Rahul made sure to play a T20 innings and lead the team home even though he batted at number four. With an undefeated 93 runs off 53 balls, including seven boundaries and six maximums, he hammered the RCB bowlers in their own den. He let everyone know that it was also his home turf by thumping his chest in celebration. He got Player of the Match for his incredible performance.
