As the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) prepare for the IPL 2025 season launch, star all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer says he can’t wait to play under his new captain, Ajinkya Rahane.
Ajinkya Rahane, who was named captain of the reigning champions, is now the only player to have led three IPL teams. He will be looking for KKR to win the championship again this year. Even though the season hasn’t begun, Iyer has already discussed how Rahane, the team’s leader, is attempting to get along with the group before the lucrative competition begins. Venkatesh Iyer also publicly commended his background in the game and his ability to maintain composure under duress.
He has led the group brilliantly thus far. He has made the effort to talk to everyone of us and try to fit in with the team. We are discussing a person who has commanded IPL teams and represented India in various formats. A stalwart of the game, he maintains his composure under pressure and has a terrific head on his shoulders. He has scored runs everywhere. “I am really excited to play under him, and I think it will be a great learning experience,” Iyer stated, as reported by NDTV.
I have consistently presented myself as a leader: Venkatesh Iyer
In response to a question concerning his responsibilities as the newly named vice-captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Venkatesh Iyer stated that he has always conducted himself like a leader and worked hard. He also spoke about the team’s progress in getting ready for the competition.
“It doesn’t require any special preparation. I’ve always presented myself as a leader, so I’m not totally unfamiliar with it. In bowling as well as batting, I have worked hard. It all comes down to perspective; if you’ve taken the position and are prepared to assume the responsibilities, half the work is already done. Our team has a solid lineup, and we have prepared well. The season has me giddy with anticipation,” Iyer continued.
