The video features India all-rounder Axar Patel recounting the events that followed his discovery of Rishabh Pant injury. Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper for both the Delhi Capitals (DC) and India, was traveling from Delhi to his birthplace of Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on December 30, 2022, when he was in a terrible vehicle accident. Some locals helped the 26-year-old cricket player escape his flaming automobile, and he was taken right away to the hospital. A year following that fateful day, DC posted a heartfelt video ode to Pant that chronicled his comeback.
He disclosed that as soon as they learned of Ishant Sharma’s accident, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), Shardul Thakur, and Pratima Singh, Sharma’s wife, all phoned him first.
Axar Patel went on to say that he spoke with Pant’s manager, who reassured him of his safety.
My phone began to ring this morning at approximately seven or eight. Ishant Sharma’s wife Pratima Di called and said, “When was the last time you spoke to Rishabh?” “I was going to call him yesterday, but I didn’t,” I murmured. She said, “He has met with an accident; if you have his mother’s number, please send it to me.” “When I initially heard about this, I immediately thought the worst (ye bhai gaya),” Axar Patel remarked in a video that DC posted.
“BCCI, Shardul, everyone called me, assuming that I was the one who had the final conversation with Rishabh. When I phoned Rishabh’s boss, he told me everything was good. We’re not sure how much damage his body has sustained yet, but he is safe. I then hung up the phone and inhaled deeply. He’s a warrior, therefore I was promised he would fight,” he said.
365 Days since that fateful night.
Every day since then has been nothing but full of gratitude, belief, self-care, hardwork and a never-give-up approach towards making a roaring comeback in the game that runs thick through his veins 🫰🏻

An IPL 2024 return for Rishabh Pant
In the meanwhile, DC has announced that Pant would captain the team and participate in the next IPL 2024 season. Notably, DC completed the 2023 season in second-last place on the points table with five victories out of 14 games, demonstrating how much they needed Pant’s services. They thus expect a significant improvement in the next season.
