Fast bowler Hasan Ali of Pakistan thinks that if PSL players perform well, viewers may turn their focus from the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the PSL. April 11 is the start date of the 2025 PSL season, which will immediately conflict with India’s current, lucrative, and star-studded IPL.
The majority of highly sought-after foreign players have decided to play in the IPL.
For instance, after being called up by the Mumbai Indians (MI) as an injury substitute, Corbin Bosch, who had originally signed for the PSL 2025, withdrew.
“Obviously, there should be a sizable audience; we are competing with the IPL, but we only had this window to plan the PSL.” The only things that attract spectators are entertainment and performances. Thus, viewers will abandon the IPL to watch us if we do well during the PSL. “It all depends on how the PSL goes for us,” Hasan stated in an interview, which News18 cited.
The right-arm pacer admitted that the PSL might be impacted by subpar national team results. He pointed out that the arrival of new players had caused Pakistan’s previous performances—from the Champions Trophy to the trip to New Zealand—to fall short of expectations. He said that he hoped that more success in the future will help the PSL and attract more supporters.
“Club leagues like the PSL are impacted when the national team performs poorly. Certainly, from the Champions Trophy to the most recent trip to New Zealand, our performance has fallen short of expectations. Since there were a number of new players on the team, it will take them some time to become used to their surroundings. However, the PSL graph also rises when Pakistan does well. In the forthcoming season, we’ll do everything in our power to satisfy our supporters,” Hasan continued.
One of the PSL’s best players, Hasan Ali has played for three different teams. At an average of 22.96, he has claimed 108 wickets in 82 games.
Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will play their first game of the 2025 PSL season in Rawalpindi on Friday.
