Actor Vijay Deverakonda and Mumbai Indians star batsman Tilak Varma recently took a break from the hectic IPL schedule to play a fun game of pickleball. Prior to the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, May 6 at the Wankhede Stadium, the two faced off against one another.
If Tilak’s team won the pickleball match, Vijay promised to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey.
The cricketer and his buddy lost by a narrow margin of 2-1 against the actor and his partner. Both sides played hard despite the friendly competition, and Tilak made a joke about helping the actor if he lost.
“We’re wagering. We have to help Vijay Anna if we lose,” Tilak stated. “If we win, I will wear the Mumbai Indians jersey,” the superstar actor retorted. Pickleball was not Tilak’s first time playing; he has previously been seen having fun with MI teammate Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira.

Meanwhile, the Southpaw will be hoping to be at his usual best on the cricket field when Mumbai faces Gujarat. Both teams are level on 14 points and fighting for a place in the top two. MI, currently in third position, has registered six consecutive wins and has a solid record at the Wankhede Stadium. Notably, the 22-year-old has had a decent season so far, scoring 239 runs in eight innings, including two fifties.
On the other hand, GT will rely heavily on their top order, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, as well as their returning bowling spearhead, Kagiso Rabada, to tackle Mumbai’s strong line-up.
