[WATCH] AUS vs IND 2025: Virat Kohli arrives in Delhi from London ahead of international return

Virat Kohli, an Indian cricket legend based in London, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday, October 14. The 36-year-old’s last competitive match for India was on March 9, 2025, in Dubai. Kohli will travel with the Indian team from Delhi to Australia on Wednesday, October 15, for the three-match ODI series.

Several photos and videos of Virat Kohli at the airport have gone viral on social media, generating excitement among supporters.

The tour will begin on October 19 at Optus Stadium in Perth, with matches in Adelaide on October 23 and Sydney on October 25.

Kohli, India’s second-highest ODI run-getter, will make his debut under Shubman Gill’s captaincy. During this series, he has the chance to overtake former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara and become the second-highest ODI run-scorer in history. The Delhi batsman has 14,181 runs in 302 ODIs, whereas Sangakkara concluded his career with 14,234 runs in 404 games. Kohli is just 54 runs away from matching Sachin Tendulkar, popularly regarded as the God of Cricket.

Shubman Gill, who took over from Rohit Sharma lately, will be leading his debut ODI tour. Gill previously served as India’s Test captain, leading the team to a 2-2 tie with England and a 2-0 victory over the West Indies. Under his leadership, India is now ranked third in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table. Following the ODI series, the Men in Blue will compete in five 20-over matches, captained by Asia Cup winner Suryakumar Yadav.
