The most fifties in the history of the Indian Premier League have now been reached by ace RCB batsman Virat Kohli, who scored his 67th half-century. By surpassing David Warner’s record of 66 half-centuries, he added another feather to his already impressive cap. He accomplished the feat on Sunday, April 20, at Mullanpur, during Match 37 of the current 2025 season between the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
He had already tied the Australia batsman’s record during last Sunday’s match against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. After 252 innings, however, the Delhi-born player defeated the Southpaw thanks to a spectacular knock against PBKS during the afternoon match’s run chase.
One of the most decorated batsmen in the super competition, Virat Kohli is notable for being the biggest run scorer in IPL history.
Most IPL half-centuries
The league’s most illustrious players who have adorned the league with their batting prowess are among those with the most half-centuries. Shikhar Dhawan, a 53-year-old Delhi native who is currently retired, comes after Warner and Kohli. Rohit Sharma, a former captain of the Mumbai Indians with two hundreds and forty-five fifties, is presently ranked number four. KL Rahul and former RCB batsman AB de Villiers, who each have 43 fifties, come after Rohit.
| S. No. | Player Name | Half-centuries | Innings taken |
| 1 | Virat Kohli | 67* | 252 |
| 2 | David Warner | 66 | 184 |
| 3 | Shikhar Dhawan | 53 | 221 |
| 4 | Rohit Sharma | 45 | 258 |
| 5 | AB de Villiers | 43 | 170 |

Speaking more of Kohli’s record-breaking feat, he remained unbeaten on 73 from 54 balls, as RCB chased down the 158-run target set by Punjab comfortably with seven wickets to spare. Kohli was also the highest run-getter from the game and was involved in anchoring the run chase, where him and Devdutt Padikkal put up a century stand to ease down the run chase. Padikkal departed with the win only being a formality, which was then completed by Jitesh Sharma, who hit the winning runs.
