Virat Kohli’s difficulty against left-arm pacers, according to Ross Taylor, was more of a coincidence than anything else.

Virat Kohli

Indian top-order hitters have recently had a lot of trouble against left-arm pacers. Whether it was in the T20 World Cup 2021 match against Pakistan or the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal against New Zealand, the combination of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli struggled to get going.

Ross Taylor, a former New Zealand international, contends that Virat Kohli can handle any bowler in the world and that it was merely coincidental that he was dismissed by left-handed bowlers a few times in the past.

Incidentally, during the recently finished ODI series against Australia, the former India captain had a lot of difficulty defending himself against Mitchell Starc because of the way that Starc’s in-swinging ball caught him in the first ODI of the series in Mumbai. Taylor supported Kohli despite this, saying that the 34-year-old would only focus on the issues he felt were crucial.

“I believe it was a coincidence more than anything else” (getting out to left-hand seamers). Virat has played superbly against all bowlers. Taylor explained to India Today in a specially arranged interview by the ICC that sometimes a bowler will just have your number.

You look at the setup; I have full faith in Virat and what he does, the 39-year-old continued. “A left-arm seamer, I believe being LBW is the danger ball swinging back, but Virat has been a brilliant player for years, and I am sure he will be working on whatever he feels he needs to be.

Indian players will be looking to him in the WTC final after placing at number four: Ross Taylor
Prior to this year’s final between India and Australia, Ross Taylor said that the Pat Cummins-led team will be eager to pick Kohli’s wicket this time, or else the cricketer can go on to score big runs and, if need be, can score quickly as well. Taylor was a member of the New Zealand team that famously defeated India in the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) in 2021.

Taylor added, “I’m sure that with him going in at number four, Indian players will be looking to him, but the Australian squad also knows they need to get Virat out early to put that Indian middle-order under pressure. If they don’t, he can score big runs and quick runs.
