Virat Kohli, the top Indian batter, is expected to re-join the team before the eagerly awaited ODI World Cup 2023. Having momentarily left the team for personal reasons, Kohli is now prepared to rejoin the team.
Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have addressed the situation following Virat Kohli withdrawal from the Indian team. A BCCI official claimed that Virat Kohli had requested approval from the team management and the board of directors to travel to Mumbai for personal reasons. This explanation puts to rest any rumors about his departure from the group.
Reassuring the crowd, the spokesperson stated, “He will be joining us later this evening and will be traveling with the team to Chennai tomorrow.”
The second warm-up game against the Netherlands was slated to take place at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, and Kohli’s absence would have meant missing it. But the game had to be called off because of the poor weather.
Recent reports from Cricbuzz state that after India’s first practice match against England in Guwahati, Kohli left the team to fly to Mumbai. Unfortunately, rain played spoilsport, and that game was also postponed.
It has been made known that Virat Kohli is involved in a significant project for the International Cricket Council (ICC), which oversees international cricket.
Before traveling to Chennai, where India will play their opening match against Australia, he is expected to attend this engagement.
On Wednesday, the captains’ traditional pre-World Cup picture shoot is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad. All of the captains are anticipated to arrive in the city by tonight. Cricket fans are counting down the days before the ODI World Cup, which begins on Thursday, October 5, in Ahmedabad. The Indian team’s world cup campaign will get underway on October 8 against Australia.
