A BCCI official claimed that Virat Kohli had requested approval from the team management and the board of directors to travel to Mumbai for personal reasons. This explanation puts to rest any rumors about his departure from the group.

Reassuring the crowd, the spokesperson stated, “He will be joining us later this evening and will be traveling with the team to Chennai tomorrow.”

The second warm-up game against the Netherlands was slated to take place at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, and Kohli’s absence would have meant missing it. But the game had to be called off because of the poor weather.

Recent reports from Cricbuzz state that after India’s first practice match against England in Guwahati, Kohli left the team to fly to Mumbai. Unfortunately, rain played spoilsport, and that game was also postponed.
