Virat Kohli, a star cricket player for India, has been involved in a number of amusing incidents and teasing on the field. Similarly, he thought of another amusing event during Sunday, March 2, when India and New Zealand played for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. It’s noteworthy that the amusing incident happened between the ninth and tenth over.
Kane Williamson drove the last delivery of the ninth over to extra cover. At that fielding position, Shreyas Iyer was assigned. The former Kiwi captain hit an innocent shot that went directly to Iyer. Williamson nearly took a run, though, because he was unable to neatly gather it.
Before launching into an amusing mimicry, Virat Kohli appeared to mock Iyer in jest while switching places between overs. Soon after, Will Young and Williamson lost their second-wicket stand. On the third delivery of the 12th over, Varun Chakravarthy, who had replaced Harshit Rana for India’s final group-stage match, removed Young. Young sliced off the outside of a googly stump.

India will win and finish the league phase with a bang.
As this is being written, India, the runners-up from the last edition, seem to be in control of the match. In the final seven overs of the run-chase, New Zealand was eight down. Runs were needed in large quantities by the Kiwis. The pursuit became even more difficult after Williamson left. The Kiwis were thus bowled out for 205 runs after giving in to the pressure of the run-chase. This gave the Men in Blue the victory by 55 runs, securing the top group position.
Earlier in the day, New Zealand chose to field first after winning the toss. Due to Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Kohli leaving the team without making a significant impact on the scoreboard, India was in trouble. Nevertheless, India reached 249/9 at the conclusion of 50 overs thanks to a crucial partnership between Iyer (79) and Axar (42), followed by Hardik Pandya’s 45-run effort.
