There have been many ups and downs so far in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. However, the one constant has been the outstanding form of Indian batting superstar Shubman Gill. In four contests thus far, the 23-year-old has accumulated 183 runs in the ongoing tournament. Shubman Gill was exceptional for Gujarat in their recent victory over the Punjab Kings.
After the team led by Shikhar Dhawan posted 153 runs, Shubman Gill played a sensational inning, scoring 67 runs in 49 deliveries to lead Gujarat to victory. His performance was crucial to the pursuit, as the defending champions ultimately secured victory. Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja has praised the recent innings of the 23-year-old batsman for his brilliance. He went so far as to compare Gill to Indian batting superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“He has an abundance of potential and leisure. Whenever he performs, he is so naturally handsome. When he drives the ball, the stroke is curved. He has ample time to execute his strokes. It makes no difference whether he scores on the off side, on side, hook, or pull; it’s always so exquisite and precise. He possesses the same touch, refinement, and elegance as Rohit Sharma. “His disposition is quite robust,” Ramiz Raja said in a video posted to his YouTube channel.
Gill has no limitations. Raja
Many believe he could be the greatest batsman, following Virat Kohli.
Continuing in the same vein, the 60-year-old opined that Gill had been phenomenal for India in every format and that, given his talent, the ceiling is the limit for the 23-year-old. He continued by noting Gill’s excellence in all formats.
“He has terrorized bowlers in Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals. When you see him, it seems like time has stopped. He already holds records at such an early age. “He has no limitations,” Raja concluded.
