After Australia’s dominance in the final two days of the match, Team India made a slight comeback on day four of the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25). Despite being spoilt by the rain, the Australians were still able to hang onto their victory in Brisbane, scoring an incredible 445 runs in the first innings.
Additionally, the Indian team’s batting problems persisted as they appeared unimpressive in comparison to the host’s outstanding bowling performance. India needed to do something exceptional to escape the follow-on after they were already reduced to 51/4 at the close of day 3. On day four, though, the same pattern persisted, and the Indian team’s hopes were further harmed by the score of 213/9, which meant they needed to score 33 runs to escape the follow-on. Fortunately for India, the pairing of the final pacers, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah, prevented the follow-on.
Incredibly, the pair scored 39 runs amongst 54 balls, which enabled Rohit Sharma and company to surpass the 246-run follow-on score. But Akash Deep’s spectacular six against Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, was one of the partnership’s most widely shared moments. Following Akash Deep’s spectacular six, Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India, was left speechless, as evidenced by the video of his responses, which went viral on social media.

India is 193 runs behind on day 5.
Regarding the ongoing match, the Indian team finished Day 4 of the third Test with 252 runs despite losing nine wickets. The Indian team would hope that Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, who now hold the crease with scores of 10* and 27* runs, respectively, can score as many runs as they can on the last day of the Brisbane Test.
India is currently 193 runs behind Australia going into day five of the match. The hosts will try to get rid of the Indian batsmen as quickly as possible and set a target in the hopes of winning on Wednesday.
