During Match 28 of the current Indian Premier League between the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday, April 13, Virat Kohli made a mess of the most straightforward long-range attempts to give Dhruv Jurel a lifeline. This was an unusual turn of events.
At the fence, Jurel cut a full ball that Suyash Sharma had placed on the middle stump in the direction of Kohli. As he appeared to have nestled under the ball rather neatly, the star batter had little room to move. The otherwise gun fielder, however, surprised everyone by shelling the easy chance.
Virat Kohli threw the ball towards the centre in utter dismay, clearly agitated.
The 21-year-old’s last delivery of the four-over spell saved him from taking his maiden wicket of the evening. In the end, Suyash gave away 39 of his quota.

The RCB won the toss earlier in the evening and chose to field first. As the first hitters, the hosts got off to a cautious start. Despite losing no wickets, they scored 45/0 in the powerplay. In his four overs, Krunal Pandya managed just 29 runs. The captain, Sanju Samson, was taken out by him (15 off 19).
After just 47 deliveries, Yashasvi Jaiswal produced a well-paced 75-run knock to take the lead. Two maximums and ten fours made up his knock. RR did succeed in making the most of their innings’ last five overs, scoring 59 runs off of them. They could only muster 173/4 on the board, though.
Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar all took one wicket apiece for the visitors, surpassing Krunal. A perfect score of 35 off 23 deliveries marked Dhruv Jurel’s innings-ending form. The RCB would have won four straight away games in the IPL 2025 if they manage to reach the 174-run objective.
