Former RCB captain Virat Kohli has finally spoken out about the tragedy, expressing his heartfelt sadness over the occurrence. A horrible occurrence occurred during RCB’s historic IPL 2025 triumph celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, turning victory into heartbreak.
What was supposed to be a happy event rapidly turned into catastrophe when a rush broke out in the crowded stands, killing 11 people and injuring more than 50. The veteran remarked that June 4, 2025, will always be a terrible day for the RCB family.
Virat Kohli expressed his condolences to the dead’ families and hoped for the recovery of those injured.
“Nothing in life really prepares you for a heartbreak like June 4th. What should’ve been the happiest moment in our franchise’s history… turned into something tragic. I’ve been thinking of and praying for the families of those we lost… and for our fans who were injured. Your loss is part of our story now. Together, we will move forward with care, respect and responsibility,” said Kohli posted on Instagram by RCB.
Following the incident, authorities have launched an investigation into the lapses in crowd management and safety measures. Several decisions have also been made to shift future large-scale celebrations to alternative venues to ensure public safety.
Following the fatal stampede that occurred during the RCB’s championship celebrations in June, the franchise has issued a six-point manifesto through its social initiative wing, RCB Cares. The manifesto highlights long-term actions to support the afflicted families and prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
This effort follows RCB’s previous decision to provide financial support of ₹25 lakh to each grieving family. With the new manifesto, the team promises to honour the victims and carry on their legacy through real, on-the-ground projects.
The catastrophe began when officials rejected permission for an open-top bus parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy. Despite the limits, over two lakh followers gathered near the location when RCB announced the festivities and proceeded with a loosely-managed event that turned into a horror show for many fans and locals.
