Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is said to have completed his fitness exam in England, making him the first of the current crop of players to do it abroad. Kohli, who was last seen in action during the IPL 2025, is scheduled to return to international cricket in October for the ODI series against Australia. His fitness test in England was overseen by the BCCI, and sources indicate that he had received consent from the board to take the assessment abroad.
While Virat Kohli chose England, other Indian players, including ODI captain Rohit Sharma, visited the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to complete their fitness assessments.
Kohli, who has already resigned from Tests and T20Is, is now completely focused on the 50-over format, with the goal of playing the ODI World Cup in 2027 before retiring from international cricket.
According to the report, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, and Nitish Kumar Reddy would have their fitness examinations in September. According to Dainik Jagran, players who missed the first round due to injury or illness would be tested alongside them.
