The first day of the second Test match between India and New Zealand was undoubtedly the host’s day, as they defeated the Kiwis for 259 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first at the Maharashtra Cricket Association. With an absolutely amazing performance that saw him take 7/59 in 23.1 overs, Washington Sundar was the one who wreaked the most devastation.
Speaking about the important lessons he learnt from playing with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Washington was brought in for the rest of the series before the current Test. In addition, he wanted to play in many Indian matches where the three of them work together.
We had extensive communication, and they contributed a wealth of attributes, expertise, and skill sets. That is very beneficial to someone who is complying with them. I certainly benefited from it today, and it’s unique to be participating in the game that both of them are in. “I hope we get to play a lot more games together,” Washington said, according to News18.
Everybody can always count on him to help: Washington Sundar
Sundar praised Ashwin’s helpful attitude and the adjustment they both had to make to their bowling technique after the ball lost its toughness.
Even if it’s not common, Ashwin is quite nice, especially when you look at it that way. He’s always willing to help, not just me, but everyone who goes to him for advice on bowling or other technicality. The ball softened tremendously. That was something that Ash (Ashwin) and I kept discussing, so we had to sort of give the ball more speed and body,” Washington continued.

Fascinatingly, Washington’s fellow statesman’s best bowling numbers in an innings are the same as his in the red-ball version.
