Since the Indian Premier League’s founding, MS Dhoni has been a consistent presence. His tenure with the Chennai Super Kings has been crucial, with the exception of a few years with the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 and 2017. To date, Dhoni has guided the team to five victories in the prestigious T20 competition. Given his widespread popularity among cricket fans, the superstar is unquestionably one of the tournament’s faces.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was among the attendees at a recent occasion, along with the World Cup-winning captain.
“Answering your question, when ‘thoda aur’ (little more) things were going around like Mahi bhai was talking about getting some vegetables and fruits and all those examples he was giving, toh mere mann mein aa raha tha ki Mahi bhai jab IPL khelne aate hai so people keep talking about when is he retiring. (I was getting a thought in mind that whenever Dhoni comes to play in the IPL, people keep discussing about his retirement),” shared Samson during the event with Dhoni sitting alongside him.

“Thoda aur bhaiya, thoda aur!” I’m saying, mere mann mein. That’s the example that came to mind. According to Samson, “I think if you ask everyone here the same question, it’s obvious that our Indian mentality is to get thoda aur.”
For those who are unaware, Dhoni is one of just seven IPL players who have participated in all 17 of the league’s previous iterations.
He has amassed 4669 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 134.54 in 234 games for CSK. In the massive auction held in advance of the 2025 Indian Premier League, he was kept as one of CSK’s five players.
