Kieron Pollard, the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians (MI), commended opening batsman Rohit Sharma for hitting consecutive 70s in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The former captain, whose form has been poor before the season began, hammered the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), strengthening MI’s position in the playoff battle.
Even though Rohit had only scored 82 runs in the first six innings, Pollard had great faith in him and believed from the beginning of the IPL that the right-handed batsman will regain his form. A few poor performances don’t really matter.
Significantly, Rohit also missed a match because of an injury.
The good news for MI is that he is back to his former glory after making a spectacular comeback in the IPL. The former all-rounder from the Caribbean stated in a recent interview that they always thought the star batsman would regain his form even after a few sedated knocks.
We’ve always believed that he will bring wonderful things to us. There are dips. Self-confidence is poor. But these are the times that come to those who have played this sport for a long period. At times, you simply require additional assistance from others. These days, we are praising him. Everyone in the Mumbai dressing room is really excited. At the beginning, we were also pleased, knowing that it would happen. May it continue,” he was cited as saying.
Before the match against LSG, Pollard commends captain Hardik Pandya.
The batting coach also talked about Hardik Pandya, the captain, and how he has overcome many obstacles in his life, both on and off the pitch, but never gives up to succeed. The Mumbai Indians (MI), led by Pandya, have resumed their winning ways in the competition after a sluggish start. In most games, he has performed well overall, which, in Pollard’s opinion, says a lot about him and his abilities.
“It is great to see a human being that has been challenged in different facets of not only cricket but of life come out and continue to show what cricket and what winning means to him,” Pollard said.
