Cricket. The women’s West Indies squad for the India trip has been confirmed by the West Indies (CWI). In December, the West Indies will embark on a white-ball series in India that will include three ODIs and as many T20I matches. Shemaine Campbelle will be Hayley Matthews’ deputy, and she will be leading the team. Due to her ongoing rehabilitation from an injury, veteran all-rounder Stafanie Taylor will not be participating in the tour.
Deandra Dottin, meanwhile, will be returning to the sidelines. Dottin will be eager to make an impression after playing her final ODI in March 2022 and returning to the T20I scene two years after declaring her retirement from international competition.
They have been trying to attract the interest of Women’s Premier League scouts to their players, and head coach Shane Deitz explained why the India tour would be an excellent way to do that.
It’s always nice to play in front of the Indian IPL teams, therefore we want to encourage more girls to participate in franchise cricket going future and with an eye toward India. It is beneficial for our women to begin putting their names in front of those individuals, as it may lead to future chances,” Deitz was cited as adding.
After the West Indies recently advanced to the T20 World Cup semifinals, Deitz also emphasized the significance of keeping up the momentum. “We hope to carry into this series the positive energy we established at the T20 World Cup. It was satisfying when we demonstrated that we could compete with the best teams.
The T20Is between the two teams will begin the series, and they will all be contested at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on December 15, 17, and 19. The three One-Day Internationals will take place at Vadodara’s Reliance Stadium on December 22, 24, and 27.
