In the 48th match of the IPL 2023, the Gujarat Titans beat the Rajasthan Royals by a large margin. This showed that they are still the best team in the league.
After limiting the home team to just 118 runs, the Hardik Pandya-led team won the game in Jaipur by nine wickets. In the same conversation, former Australian player Shaun Tait came up to praise captain Hardik for his great work on the field.
Tait said that Hardik Pandya’s efforts against the Royals, in which he hit 39 off 15, were kind of a statement. Tait thinks that GT could have easily won the game in the 19th over, but their captain used a strike rate of 260 to help them win in the 14th over.
“I guess what Hardik Pandya did tonight was a message. I could have come in, given them a little push, and helped them cross the line in the 19th over. When talking to ESPNcricinfo, Tait said of Pandya’s performance, “I liked how he did that.”
When you don’t switch your team around too much, that’s a good sign.
The former pacer also said that it’s a good sign if the team doesn’t change too often, and GT’s team is a good example of that. While Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill’s 71 runs were important for the opening stand, the Titans’ captain made sure there was no wait in crossing the line by playing a fast knock to finish the chase quickly. With 14 points, GT is still at the top of the points table, but RR has fallen to the fourth spot.
“It’s a good sign if you don’t change your team too often. When Mumbai had their reign, they didn’t make many changes. They made it so easy. Guys bowl in the same places, and the hitting order is changed as needed. “Chennai does it well, and it looks like this team is going in the same direction,” said Tait.
