After defending a pitiful score of 111, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a spectacular victory. Ian Bishop, a former captain of the West Indies, says Shreyas Iyer leadership style was the reason, stating that he improved teams everywhere he went.
“Shreyas has improved teams everywhere he has gone. Captains have undoubtedly sat back and said, “Let’s take this deep,” in my experience. However, he didn’t. He moved. Additionally, PBKS received a bonus win,” Bishop stated on the Time Out program.
Before being fired by the team, Shreyas Iyer guided KKR to their third Indian Premier League (IPL) championship last year.
As captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC), the 30-year-old was instrumental in making things better and leading the team to the 2020 championship game.
Ambati Rayudu, a former batter for India, too praised Shreyas’ poise. “As a person and as a captain, he [Shreyas] exudes that poise, which is why I feel Rayudu stated, “Sir [Bishop] has stated that he is a good captain, and that is because he has that composure.”
“The greatest captains I’ve ever met wouldn’t have given this score any weight. I promise you. But this man did. Ponting does. Ponting would not surrender. They have a fantastic combo. However, that is, if they don’t switch up the players as frequently. I think they’ll have a lot of success if they maintain it.
Punjab dropped to third place in the standings after defending the lowest score in IPL history. They will carry this confidence into their upcoming game on Friday, April 18, in Bengaluru, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
