Australian skipper Pat Cummins made a subtle but pointed dig at Edgbaston after India’s 336-run triumph over England in the second Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. India breached Edgbaston for the first time in Test history under Shubman Gill.
Australia played the second Test of their three-match series against the West Indies while England and India played in Birmingham. The Aussies won 133 runs. After the match, Pat Cummins joked that Edgbaston’s pitch was unsuitable for bowlers.
Watched the scores but not much “Pat Cummins .
That series will be monitored. Who wants to bowl there? “Not shocked that it was the third flattest pitch in England cricket history,” Pat Cummins said after the match.
He added that Grenada’s surface was extremely different from Edgbaston, implying that the Caribbean pitch at National Cricket Stadium was more bowler-friendly.
It appears like two separate sports, Test cricket here and there. It looks like a good series there. 1-1.
McCullum predicts a thrilling Lord’s Test.
Based on last month’s ICC World Test Championship final, England head coach Brendon McCullum told MCC head coach Karl McDermott his recommendations. That match was difficult for hitters because Cummins and Kagiso Rabada extracted seam movement at the venue.
“It’ll be a blockbuster either way, but I think it’ll set up for a cracker – especially if the pitch is alive,” he told ESPNcricinfo.
In the last Test of their three-match series against the West Indies, Australia will try to sweep the series in a day-night match at Sabina Park on July 12.
