The first IPL 2025 match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was scheduled on March 22 (Saturday), however the toss was unfortunately postponed. The throw was supposed to take place at 7:00 PM, however it was postponed because the opening ceremony began at 6:00 PM.
Prior to the first match, Shahrukh Khan, KKR’s co-owner, presented Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh.
The former received a special award in advance of the 18th season. Afterwards, Shahrukh welcomed the dignitaries and brought the artists to the stage prior to the major confrontation.

While it was expected that the toss would happen, Shahrukh introduced the two captains of the night—Ajinkya Rahane and Rajat Patidar—on the stage. They cut a cake on IPL’s 18th-year anniversary, as the toss was further delayed. Finally, the toss was done at 7:15 PM, as Patidar won the toss, and RCB opted to bowl first.
