Shoaib Akhtar discussed the impact of the tournament and the up-and-coming players who are making waves this season.
“Every year, ILT20 becomes better and bigger. The tournament is having a significant impact, as evidenced by the stats, which speak for themselves. The players’ performances are of the highest calibre. More significantly, though, the league was established to support indigenous talent in the United Arab Emirates, and it is doing so with success. It is encouraging to see players like Khuzaima Tanveer and Muhammad Waseem progressing through the ranks this season,” he remarked.
Speaking about up-and-coming fast-bowling potential, Akhtar expressed his admiration for a young pacer, saying, “Farhan Khan has impressed me.” He’s really good with the new ball, so I wanted to watch him bowl with it early in the tournament. At barely eighteen, he is picking things up quickly and has a promising future. When he bowls to left-handers, it can be a little difficult, but learning is crucial for a child his age. Khuzaima Tanveer is showing himself to be a true talent; he can bowl and bat, making him someone to watch, and Ayaan Khan is also very good at spin.
When asked who he would pick to win ILT20 Season 3, Akhtar said, “My heart goes out to Sharjah Warriorz, but all four playoff teams deserve to win.” They got off to a poor start but picked up speed just in time. It would be fantastic to witness them go all the way and capture the crown.

The dates of the DP World ILT20’s third season are set for January 11–February 9, 2025. Three locations will host all 34 games: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriorz are among the six franchise teams in the genuinely worldwide league.
