Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, questioned the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) strategy group before their match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). On Wednesday, May 17, the two teams will face off at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala. For those unaware, Delhi was the first team eliminated from the ongoing IPL 2023 tournament. Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer-turned-broadcaster, pondered whether Delhi would offer players such as Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dhull a chance with only two games remaining in their season. In addition, he questioned the think tank as to whether out-of-form Prithvi Shaw would be selected if the ‘major players’ were rested.
“The emphasis will be on what Delhi will do.” Will Delhi rest their superstars and compete against India? Will Prithvi Shaw have another opportunity? Aakash asked on his YouTube channel whether either Sarfaraz Khan or Yash Dhull would be given an opportunity.
Prithvi Shaw has endured a forgettable season, scoring 47 runs at a dismal average of 7.7 in six appearances. The last time the DC opener played for the franchise was on April 20 against KKR, where he scored 13 runs before returning to the dugout.
Due to the circumstances, you may try whoever you choose. Aakash Chopra
The former cricketer added that due to Delhi’s precarious position at the bottom of the IPL Points Table, the team is able to interchange players. Aakash mentioned players like Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dhull, who have had limited opportunities in the current edition.
“Then are Mitchell Marsh and Rilee Rossouw omitted? If you’re not going anywhere, you can play Yash Dhull, you can play Sarfaraz; I mean, you can try whoever you want because Delhi is in such a predicament,” Aakash continued.
David Warner and company, who are eleventh on the ladder with eight points, will attempt to avoid finishing the season with the wooden spoon. Delhi’s next match will be against Punjab, and they will conclude their season against CSK on Saturday, May 20.
