On Friday, October 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will feature a showdown between Pakistan and the Netherlands. After being given the opportunity to bat first, Pakistan was dismissed for 286 runs, with Saud Shakeel scoring the most runs (68).
Shadab Khan, an all-rounder, also made a significant contribution to the total with his 32 (34) run innings, which included two fours and a six.
He contributed to a 64-run partnership off 70 balls for the seventh wicket. He was unable to complete the innings for his team, though, when he lost his stumps to Bas de Leede in the 44th over. The straight delivery that struck the right-handed batsman’s stumps and ended his innings was missed by the batter.
The Pakistan all-rounder, who has taken a lot of heat for his recent performances, was seen marching towards the pavilion in disgust after being dismissed. As he walked a long way back to the changing room, Shadab Khan was observed yelling and cursing angrily.

Later in the second innings, Shadab claimed the prized scalp of Vikramjit Singh (52 off 67), who was posing a serious threat to Pakistan’s ability to win the match. After the Netherlands were 50/2 after 11.1 overs, Vikramjit and Bas de Leede (67 off 68) pulled together a 70-run stand off 76 balls for the third wicket.
Next up for Pakistan is Sri Lanka on October 10th.
Shadab Khan, though, ended the partnership when Vikramjit hit him straight to Fakhar Zaman at deep mid-wicket. The Netherlands were brought to their knees when Bas de Leede was also bowled out in the 34th over. They were therefore bowled out for 205 in 41 overs, giving Pakistan the victory and a victorious start to their World Cup campaign.
The Babar Azam-led team will play Sri Lanka next on Tuesday, October 10, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad after winning their first game.
