In the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) final, Royal Challengers Bangalore women made history by winning their first title with a victory over Delhi Capitals women. The match took place on Sunday, March 17 at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s captain Smriti Mandhana was seen on video chat with star Indian batsman Virat Kohli following Richa Ghosh’s game-winning runs that brought home the victory. Across social media, the photo of the moment is becoming increasingly popular.
Additionally, Virat Kohli shared a photo of the team on his Instagram account with the comment, “Super Women,” in celebration of the team’s championship victory. Even though Kohli hasn’t been able to win the Indian Premier League with Royal Challengers Bangalore, the star batsman was overjoyed to see the women’s team end the curse.

RCB Women’s resilient batting helped them win their first title.
Speaking of the matchup with the WPL 2024 Final, Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first to start the match. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma opened the innings for the team, scoring 23 and 44 runs, respectively. Still, the remaining batters were not very good. In the first inning, the Capitals scored 113 runs in all. Shreyanka Patil led Bangalore in wickets taken with four, making her the top scorer. Asha Sobhana scored two runs and Sophie Molineux claimed three wickets.
Bangalore, intending to chase the mark, got off to a great start with openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine, who scored 31 and 32 runs, respectively. To further pursue the goal for her team, Ellyse Perry maintained her scorching form, scoring 35* runs. With an eight-wicket victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore women won their first-ever WPL championship.
