Yashasvi Jaiswal, the daring Indian opener, became the first Indian to be included to an impeccable list that only former New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum was on. In Test cricket, he became just the second batsman to hit at least 30 sixes in a single year.
India’s run-chase of a difficult 359 on a Pune track that was doing everything for the spinners did not take long to reach the milestone maximum. New Zealand, headed by Tom Latham, chose to open with Tim Southee, who was promptly dismissed for a smashing six over deep square-leg to begin the match. Everyone was supposed to watch as Jaiswal sought to cruise through the rest of the knock, which included three more sixes, bringing his 2024 total to 32.
Here’s how Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his 32nd six of 2024:

As Jaiswal appeared to be poised for a traditional century, Santner removed him after Daryl Mitchell made a deft, low catch at first slip.

With four of the five Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy taking place this year and the last Test of the series still to come, Jaiswal has a tonne of chances to improve his stats.
