After Vaibhav Suryavanshi shattered his record for the fastest century by an Indian batter in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Yusuf Pathan recently expressed his joy in an interview with his younger brother, Irfan Pathan. When the Rajasthan Royals (RR) played the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, April 28, the 14-year-old accomplished this accomplishment.
Hitting seven fours and eleven sixes, Suryavanshi hammered 101 off 38 deliveries. It just took him 35 balls to reach his century. His record surpassed that of Yusuf, who, while playing for RR, had hammered a 37-ball century against the Mumbai Indians in the 2010 IPL. In addition, Suryavanshi overtook Yusuf to get the second-fastest century in IPL history. In the record books, the World Cup champion was pleased to see an Indian batter surpass him.
The fact that my name was associated with the fastest century in Indian cricket makes me extremely proud. Also, an Indian is now the second player to reach the fastest century. Therefore, it’s great to see that Vaibhav smashed that record,” Yusuf stated during an Irfan Pathan-hosted episode of #SeedhiBaat.
Yusuf claimed to have congratulated Suryavanshi in a conversation with him following the game. When a member of the Rajasthan Royals broke his record, the multiple IPL champion was also pleased.
“I spoke with him, of course. I made a call to the Rajasthan Royals’ squad manager, Romi. Since it is a significant accomplishment, I was unable to avoid him. The person who completed this task must be congratulated and contacted. This 14-year-old youngster set a new record. I spent the first three IPL seasons playing for the same squad. The fact that a Rajasthan Royals player broke the mark pleased me as well. I called him as I was unable to avoid him. When I spoke with Vaibhav, I was thrilled that he beat the record. I was overjoyed and congratulated him,” Yusuf added.
“I don’t think much,” he remarked. Yusuf Pathan
According to Yusuf’s memory, Suryavanshi advised him to ignore his workload and instead concentrate on going out to bat and having fun.
“Yusuf Pathan is speaking to you, according to what Roma Iyer introduced. He was once a member of our team. I said to Vaibhav, “You might not recognise me; my name is Yusuf Pathan.” You did a great job at bat, and I thought your interview was excellent. I advised him that you just play and don’t think much. He claimed he doesn’t give much thought to his tasks and that he doesn’t have to. He is able to have fun and bat on the cricket pitch. “He doesn’t have to think about what he does,” Yusuf said.
The 14-year-old southpaw has a bright career ahead of him, according to Yusuf, who acknowledged that he had never seen a more gifted hitter. The former cricket player who is now a politician also commended Suryavanshi’s rapid length picking and outstanding balance when making big smashes.
