Yuvraj Singh broke the record for the fastest half-century in Champions Trophy history for the Indian squad. In the 2017 edition, he did so in the league stage match against Pakistan. The former cricket player has projected that Men in Blue captain Rohit Sharma can score a 60-ball century against Pakistan in the upcoming match after India began the Champions Trophy 2025 on a high note by defeating Bangladesh in their opening match.
For those who haven’t seen it, Rohit performed admirably against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. The opening batsman scored 41 runs off of just 36 deliveries on a relatively slow wicket. Yuvraj, who has played with and witnessed the Mumbai batter’s debut, stated that he “always backs my match-winners.” During his brief appearance, Rohit smashed seven iconic boundaries with his bat.
“It doesn’t matter to me whether Rohit Sharma is in or out of form.
I would consistently support my match winners. Alongside Virat Kohli, he has been India’s most successful batsman in ODI cricket, particularly in white-ball formats. The opponent faces risk if Rohit struggles but still scores runs. “He will score a century in 60 balls if he is in form,” Yuvraj stated on JioStar.
When he gets going, he’s not just hitting fours; he’s clearing the ropes with sixes. That’s his quality. He is among the top short ball players as well. Rohit can hook it with ease, even if the bowler is bowling at 145–150 kmph. On his best day, he can win the game by himself, and his strike rate is consistently between 120 and 140,” he continued.
Alongside Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit was elevated to the opening slot in the same edition in 2013. The pair emerged as India’s top opening tandem, played a significant part in the country’s championship victory, and eventually became the team’s go-to openers.
