Yuvraj Singh was at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 28, to watch India’s thrilling Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan.
The renowned former India all-rounder was spotted methodically observing all of the action between the arch rivals, with continental dominance on the line. However, he would be dissatisfied with how Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, two cricketers he has coached, were dismissed in the second innings.
While Abhishek, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, was out in the second over for five, Shubman was out in the fourth over for twelve. Faheem Ashraf removed both hitters, while Haris Rauf took the catches.
This was Abhishek’s first time out of the tournament with a single-digit score. Shubman, on the other hand, failed to impress with his bat once again. The vice captain finished the tournament with no half-century to his name.
Apart between Abhishek and Shubman, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav was also dismissed during the powerplay as they chased a 147-run target. However, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma formed a tenacious combination for the fourth wicket to save the ship.
After Samson was removed for a 21-ball 24, Tilak was expected to anchor the innings and lead India to victory. He scored his first half-century in the tournament and received strong support from Shivam Dube.
The Men in Blue have great depth in the batting department, with Rinku Singh and Axar Patel expected to come in at No. 7 and 8, respectively. However, Indian fans will want Tilak and Dube to take them to victory. India are chasing a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title. On the other hand, Pakistan have won two Asia Cups in the past but never lifted the title when the tournament has been played in the T20 format.
