Yuzvendra Chahal, a veteran spinner for the Rajasthan Royals, has made history. The 33-year-old became the first bowler in Indian Premier League history to take 200 wickets.
The wrist spinner accomplished this feat by dismissing Mohammad Nabi in the eighth over of the first innings. The seasoned Afghanistan all-rounder offered Chahal an easy return-catch, which the spinner gladly accepted. The bowler appeared emotional after catching the ball and looked up to the heavens.
The fact that Yuzvendra Chahal accomplished this achievement against his previous team adds to its significance. Yuzvendra Chahal’s first IPL team was the Mumbai Indians, from which he was released at the end of the 2013 season.
A Massive moment for Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal, a senior spin bowler, has had a difficult few years. The 33-year-old has not appeared for India in almost a year. Chahal’s most recent outing came during the West Indies trip, when he participated in the final T20I game and was struck for 51 runs from four overs.
Earlier this year, the lanky spinner received further bad news when his name was removed from the BCCI central contracts. Chahal has had an excellent start to the IPL 2024 season.

Everyone praised his 3/11 performance against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Chahal’s steady performances have made him a strong possibility for inclusion in the next T20I World Cup in June.
Yuzvendra Chahal has made 153 appearances in the Indian Premier League. After making only one appearance for the Mumbai Indians, Chahal signed with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Yuzvendra Chahal played 113 games for RCB, taking 139 wickets with a high of 4/25. Chahal was taken aback when he was not picked up by RCB during the IPL Auctions.
The lanky spinner’s switch to Rajasthan Royals appears to have worked out well, as he has 61 wickets in 38 games, including a hat-trick against KKR. Chahal’s best of 5/40 occurred in the same game, and he has taken four wickets on five occasions for the men in pink.
