Yuzvendra Chahal, the new recruit for the Punjab Kings, identified two of the hardest batsmen he has ever bowled to. Two hitters were described as “challenging” to bowl to by the Indian Premier League’s top wicket-taker.
He gave an explanation for why he thought Nicholas Pooran and Heinrich Klaasen were strong batters. He added, though, that he has never been intimidated by the size of the batter he faces.
Nicholas Pooran is one, while Heinrich Klaasen is the other. Because of their immense strength, even the edges can go for sixes at times. It is they that are difficult. I’ve done good against them and gone for sixes. I don’t glance at the name, though, when I bowl. Their reputation will put pressure on you. They have the bat, and I have the ball. I must prevail. I’m neither 6’5″ nor particularly broad. For me, my mind is everything, therefore mera sab kuch mind pe hai. According to Chahal, who was cited by Hindustan Times, “I always concentrate on that.”
Bowling on smaller grounds is no longer a source of fear: Yuzvendra Chahal
The cunning leg-spinner added that the ground’s dimensions no longer influence his thinking.
Due to bats becoming larger and more powerful and wickets becoming flatter, ground dimensions have become a significant influence. However, I enjoy taking on difficulties. “My fear of bowling on smaller grounds has vanished since I’ve been bowling at Chinnaswamy for eight years,” Chahal continued.
Chahal leads the IPL’s wicket-taking table with 205 wickets in 159 innings. During his eight years with RCB, he took the majority of his wickets while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chahal will compete in the prestigious T20 tournament for the thirteenth time in the IPL 2025. Many will be counting on him to have the kind of season that PBKS does.
