[WATCH] IPL 2025: Yuzvendra Chahal stuns Chepauk with hat-trick vs CSK

In Match 49 of the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, April 30, Yuzvendra Chahal of the Punjab Kings achieved a spectacular hat-trick in a sensational bowling display against the Chennai Super Kings. Chahal achieved his second hat-trick in IPL history by bowling the penultimate over and dismissing three CSK players.

Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, and Deepak Hooda were the three victims that contributed to the leg-spinner from Haryana’s hat-trick. It is noteworthy that Chahal claimed four wickets in the over and defeated MS Dhoni on the second ball after being hit for a six on the first.

When MS Dhoni was on strike, the leggie, who had gone wicketless in his opening spell, came back to bowl the penultimate over. In the 19th over, a well-thrown first ball sailed for a massive six over the long-on area, but a courageous Chahal delivered another ball, this time more quickly into the air, and caught the renowned stumper-batter at long-off. The over’s third ball was a dot, but the three players that came after it left without scoring a run in three consecutive deliveries, causing complete devastation.

With this outstanding accomplishment, Chahal has joined Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh in the exclusive group of players with numerous IPL hat-tricks. The former all-rounder for India, Mishra, has three hat-tricks, but he also scored a few while playing for the Punjab Kings in the league’s early years. With 218 league wickets to date, Chahal already holds the record for most in the history of the prestigious competition.
