Shortly after the settlement of his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal was spotted leaving the Bandra Family Court wearing a T-shirt that read, “Be your own Sugar Daddy ” Everyone was left wondering what was going through Chahal’s head following the breakup after the intriguing phrase caused a stir.
After accepting the joint plea that Chahal and Verma had submitted, the Mumbai Court granted the divorce. “The court has granted the decree of divorce,” Nitin Kumar Gupta, Chahal’s attorney, confirmed the news. It is no longer a husband and wife.
On February 5, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree formally requested a divorce with mutual consent.
However, the family court refused to let the six-month cooling-off period be waived on February 20. It has been 18 months since their marriage, in June 2022, that the pair has been living apart.

After Dhanashree and Chahal mutually unfollowed each other on Instagram, there were reports that they were divorcing, leaving everyone guessing. In December 2020, Yuzvendra and Dhanashree were married in a modest ceremony in Gurugram. When Chahal reached out to her on social media for dance lessons during the pandemic, the two became acquainted.
After four years of marriage, the couple made the decision to call it quits. Chahal’s IPL 2025 commitments with Punjab Kings were taken into consideration when scheduling the hearing for March 20. Neither of them has disclosed the divorce’s cause to the public, though.
Chahal’s unexpected remark has caused the public and media to wonder about its true meaning when he returns to cricket. Chahal will play in the Indian Premier League 2025 for the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Chahal was acquired by PBKS for Rs 18 crore prior to the 2025 IPL season. With the most wickets taken by an Indian in T20I and by any bowler in the IPL, Chahal is the most successful bowler in the league.
