The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) hired legendary former India speedster Zaheer Khan as their coach last year. He will try to lead the team captained by Rishabh Pant to the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 18th edition playoffs.
In 2022, Lucknow began their adventure in the IPL. In both of their initial seasons, they made it to the postseason. But they came in at number seven the previous year. The home stadium of the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow, has seen a remarkable amount of support. Nonetheless, the majority of their supporters have worn yellow shirts during their matches versus the Chennai Super Kings.
During a news conference, the LSG mentor was questioned if the visiting teams’ strong attendance at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium—especially the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru—would alter in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Due to MS Dhoni’s extreme mania, Zaheer acknowledged that he won’t be shocked to see yellow shirts controlling the crowd when Lucknow hosts CSK on April 14.
All stadiums will be dominated by yellow as long as MS Dhoni is present. That is how it ought to be. Everyone adores him. It will be that way as long as he is playing,” Zaheer stated.
Dhoni is expected to play again in the 2025 Indian Premier League despite rumours that he is retiring. The Men in Yellow’s season begins on Sunday, March 23, when they play the Mumbai Indians, their bitter rivals, in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
We know how to win games, and our squad consists of 24 players: Zaheer Khan
Due to injury, the Super Giants will miss the first several IPL 2025 games, including Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan. But according to reports, Shivam Mavi and Shardul Thakur are training with the team and are available as substitutes if necessary.
The team hopes to have a successful season under a new captain, and Zaheer said the injury setbacks won’t dampen their enthusiasm.
“You are aware that such doubts can occur when discussing the IPL. We have plans in place for the season, and the pacers are collaborating with LSG’s support team as necessary. “With twenty-four players in the squad, we know how to win games,” Zaheer stated.
