For the upcoming all-format series against Ireland in February 2025, Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed its teams. Three ODIs, three T20Is, and a one-time Test match will all be part of the visit. Vincent Masekesa, a legspinner, and Nicholas Welch, a top-order batsman, are the two uncapped players in Zimbabwe’s Test team.
The first Test match of the series will take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from February 6–10, and then the white-ball matches will take place in Harare. The dates of the T20Is are February 22, 23, and 25, and the dates of the ODIs are February 14, 16, and 18. Zimbabwe’s home Test series against Afghanistan ended in a 1-0 loss, and their tour comes soon after. The group will be anticipating a powerful resurgence against Ireland.
Masekesa, 27, and Welch, 26, have received recognition for their exceptional domestic accomplishments. The top order will be strengthened by Masekesa, who has taken 49 wickets in 15 first-class games, and Welch, who has amassed 1216 runs at an average of 31 in 26 first-class games.
Sikandar Raza, an experienced all-rounder, will not play in the Test match because he has prior commitments in the ILT20, which ends on February 9. But Raza will be back to captain the T20I team. In addition, Sean Williams, who battled a back issue during the Afghanistan series, has been deemed fit.
Dion Myers and Joylord Gumbie have been replaced by Wessly Madhevere and Nyasha Mayavo in the ODI squad. But Myers, along with Mayavo, Tony Munyonga, and Jonathan Campbell, continues to be a member of the T20I team.
