JioCinema kept breaking records on June 8, 2023, when 44.9 crore people watched their favourite sports event, the IPL, on the app. People could watch IPL 2023 on their phones, tablets, laptops/desktops, and connected TVs thanks to JioCinema’s many services.
In particular, the number of people using connected TVs grew quickly this season across the country. More than 12.6 million viewers logged on to JioCinema on their connected TVs, which shows how big its spread is. The average amount of time each viewer spent on a connected TV per match during the event was 65 minutes. This is longer than the average amount of time each viewer spends on linear TV.
Based on BARC reports, the reach of IPL on linear TV (not including the final match) for people age 15 and up who watch outside of their homes is 37 Cr. Out-of-home watching includes people who are in restaurants or other places and may or may not be paying attention to the game. If you take out the people who watch TV away from home, the fixed TV reach is 32.6 CR.
