Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Renegades by 63 runs

That is it from this game. Do not go anywhere as Melbourne Stars take on Sydney Sixers in the second game of today's double header. Stay tuned.
With this win, Adelaie Strikers move to third spot, with 9 points from 8 games. They have the second best net run rate in the League, so that helps too.
Jonathan Wells has been adjudged the Man of the Match.
On the other hand, this is the 9TH SUCCESSIVE LOSS FOR THE MELBOURNE RENEGADES. They did not apply themselves and except Webster everyone else failed. They lost wickets at regular intervals. Shaun Marsh played a shaky innings and that did not help the team much. Coming to their bowling, except Christian everyone got wickets. Joe Mennie was the most expensive bowler for them.
It has been a comfortable victory for Adelaide Strikers. It has been an all-round performance from them. They bowled well and Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan and Travis Head were the pick of the bowlers. Earlier, their batsmen did well to put up a score of 173. Jonathan Wells and Matthew Short's partnership was crucial for them.

OUT! RUN OUT! Length delivery on middle, Mennie flicks it through square leg. The batsmen take a single. OUT! CAUGHT! Wow. What a catch from Peter Siddle. That is simply a stunner. Countryman gets countryman but Siddle has to get 99.999999999999 percent credit for this wicket. What is his age? 35. Oh my. Old man. Come again? Young old bloke. Come again? Sorry. Age does not matter for this vegan. Tossed up outside off, Nabi looks to play the slog sweep but the ball spins away from him and induces a leading edge. Initially, it seems like the ball will land in no man's land on the off side. But Peter Siddle tracks it down from short third man, running sideways to his right, keeps his eyes on the ball and dives full length to take the catch! Simply outstanding. Another massive blow. 9th straight loss incoming. 50TH BIG BASH WICKET FOR RASHID KHAN, the quickest to do so!

TACTICAL TIME-OUT TAKEN. After a poor start, the Renegades have done well to rebuild. 114 needed from 11 overs. Also, if they keep Rashid wicketless, they will have half their problems solved.

The players are back out in the middle. Shaun Marsh is out to open for the Renegades, along with Marcus Harris. Wow. Travis Head to start off proceedings to Marsh. Here we go...
The Renegades lost their cool at the death though and could get under the pump, if they do not have wickets in hand towards the end. The wicket looks flat but could be on the slower side. A compelling run chase and the excitement to see how is Rashid Khan played out, will envelop. Stay tuned.
The innings unfolded like a typical T20 game. A quickfire start, then a slowdown and then a canter towards the end. Weatherald and Salt started superbly but the latter's wicket pegged them back. The Renegades bowled really well after conceding 36 in the first 3 overs. Just 61 came in the next 11. That was when the likes of Samit Patel and Cameron Boyce stifled the Strikers.
That is a fine late burst from the Strikers. 76 in the last 6 overs. The Short-Wells stand has bored well for Adelaide. But still, on this small ground, will it be enough?

It is match number 33 of the Big Bash League and it is another Super Sunday. This is the first match of the double header with the Strikers meeting the Renegades at the Adelaide Oval. It is number 6 vs number 8 in the points table. Nothing will change if number 8 wins, but if Adelaide manage to strike the right chords, they could zoom right up to number 3. That is how closely stacked this table is. Hello and a warm welcome.
