In the final session, the Aussies finished the job as they bowled out the English side for 170 in 71.4 overs. The England openers fell early. Nat Sciver-Brunt's 51 was the only bright spot for them in making a notable score. Alana King excelled for Australia Women, taking 4 wickets for 45 runs, while Kim Garth and Darcie Brown each took 2 wickets. After coming to bat, the Aussies were steady with the scoring as they lost only one wicket of Georgia Voll and scored 56 runs, with Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland staying firm on the crease. They now trail by 114 runs with 9 wickets in their kitty.
The second session too belonged to the Aussies! They reduced the English side to 142/7 at dinner break. Nat Sciver-Brunt remained the lone fighter with an unbeaten 51, while Alana King shone with 3 wickets for the Aussies. England faced an uphill battle to reach 200, while Australia aimed to wrap up the tail quickly at the end of the second session.
Australia Women finish on 56/1 after batting 22 overs in their first Innings. So, Day 1 of this Ashes Women's Test was dominated by the Aussies! In the first session, Australia Women bowled well, reducing England Women to 64/3 after 26 overs. After opting to bowl first, Australia’s Kim Garth dismissed Maia Bouchier in the first over and later removed skipper Heather Knight for 25. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sophia Dunkley tried to stabilize England's innings after that and stayed on the crease.
