Upul Tharanga has been named as the Player Of The Match. Strangely, no interview taken.
Victorious Sri Lanka Legends skipper, Tillakaratne Dilshan, says that the plan was to bat first and spend some time in the middle. Is happy that everyone got a hit before their next big game against England. Praises his bowlers as well for stepping up in one bowler's absence (Sanath Jayasuriya). Calls this a complete team performance. On his splendid catch to dismiss Rajin Saleh, Dilshan says that he enjoys his fielding and in international cricket, he used to field at cover and point, so is happy to continue with the same. Informs that he has a hamstring niggle, which has got worse. Is happy to have 4 days before the next game and details that even if they miss that game, they have 9 days before the semi final. Hopes that his players can recover quickly.
Khaled Mashud has come up for a chat to represent Mohammad Rafique for Bangladesh Legends. Mashud says that the effort was much better from the last two matches. Says that they started very well in the first 16 overs but could not finish in the last 4 overs. Praises Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga, rueing the chance not taken, which was given by Tharanga early on. Lauds Nazimuddin for his knock but admits that after Mehrab Hossain got out, the innings got stalled. Feels that the last 4 overs of the first innings took the game away from their hands.
Earlier in the day, it was Sri Lanka Legends choking against some wonderful spin bowling by Bangladesh. They were loitering around, at 119/2 after 16 overs but then Upul Tharanga changeed gears to help his side hammer 61 runs in the last 4 overs. Upul himself made 56 of those. That took the score to 180 and perhaps pushed Bangladesh Legends out of the contest. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Excellent bowling display from Sri Lanka Legends. They were poor in the Powerplay but then the captain got them roaring back. He led from the front, got his team rolling, made sure that they took their catches and the fielding got improved. Dilshan himself took 3 wickets while Farveez Maharoof was terrific - 4-0-15-0 which had 12 dot balls. Totally stuffed out Bangladesh.
Let's start from the run chase. Nazimuddin came out all gun blazing and tonked the ball to all parts. He received plenty of luck on the way with dropped catches and missed run outs. He received good support from Mehrab Hossain and the duo began well in the Powerplay. But the plot changed once the fielding restrictions were lifted. Dilshan got his slower bowlers on and Bangladesh lost their way. From 54/0 in the Powerplay, they could make another 55 only in the next 11 overs. They did not lose many wickets but the runs were simply not coming and eventually, Nazimuddin was left with too much to do. Played well for his 54 though.
End of another one-sided contest. But this one at least, did not feel so, for a major part of the game. Bangladesh Legends bowled well for 16 overs and then had a terrific Powerplay. But could not quite make that good start count.

SIX! A big shot to end the innings. Flighted, around middle, Khaled Mashud comes down the track and swings it over long on. Does not matter much. Sri Lanka Legends win by 42 runs.

FOUR! This should have been taken too! Full, outside off, Mashud comes down the track, swings it towards deep mid-wicket and should have been caught. But Tillakaratne Dilshan is standing some 5 yards inside the circle and the ball travels over him. Bounces in front of the ropes and then goes beyond.

Would have been another catch. Slower through the air, Khaled Mashud comes down the track and looks to go downtown but miscues it in the air. Long off comes running in, slides, but drops the catch. Two runs taken.
