Right then, that will be it from us for this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. The action continues at the Caribbean Premier League, 2024. Do join in tomorrow for Match 17 in the CPL, 2024 where the Saint Lucia Kings will take on the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons from the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Saint Lucia. That game will start at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day). But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Rovman Powell, the Barbados Royals skipper says the game was done in the 19th over and so and they did a fantastic job to restrict such a powerful and explosive team to what they did. Adds that they decided that 150-160 won't win many games and one batter had to bat the way de Kock did. Also says that the credit needs to be given to the team and with a couple of days before their next game, they will be looking to recover well before getting back to the field.
Shai Hope, the Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper is up for a chat. He says that they gave away 20 runs too much with the ball but had the firepower with the bat. Adds that Maheesh Theekshana is a class bowler and they failed to get going in the powerplay. Shares that they need to look at the areas to improve and bounce back strong. Mentions that they need to get wickets at regular intervals going forward and contain the runs in the death overs. Ends by adding that the fans are brilliant as they support them wherever they go.
Quinton de Kock is the Player of the Match for his blistering ton. He says that he is just looking to have a good time in the Caribbean and just looking to enjoy his cricket. Adds that this was a good track and he was just trying to help his side post a good enough total. Mentions he took time at the start and his partner, Kadeem Alleyne took the pressure off him in the Powerplay. Adds that they lost their last game but this was a good one in terms of intensity and result.
Time for the presentations...
The bowling was Royals was pretty accurate. They bowled according to their plans and the field, only to be rewarded with a fine win. Keshav Maharaj and Jason Holder were the chief wicket-takers with three and two apiece while Maheesh Theekshana bowled an economical spell for none for 21 in his four overs to pile on the pressure. Earlier today, the Barbados Royals were asked to bat first and they posted a formidable score of 205 on the back of a blistering ton from Quinton de Kock while Kadeem Alleyne and Jason Holder played handy cameos for their side. Dwaine Pretorius, Raymon Reifer, and Keemo Paul were among the wickets for the Warriors but most of their bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Barbados Royals will be happy to bounce back and bag two points after their loss to the Knight Riders in their previous game.
A clinical all-round effort from the Barbados Royals sees them defeat the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 32 runs. Chasing a mammoth score of 206 for the win, the Warriors lost Azam Khan cheaply while Tim Robinson and Shai Hope took their time to get going. Shimron Hetmyer and Moeen Ali played breezy cameos through the middle but failed to carry on while Keemo Paul and Raymon Reifer swung their bats but the task was a tad too difficult for them. Guyana Amazon Warriors have lost their first game of the season after a hat-trick of wins and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
