Let's now hear from a few Dubai Capitals players as they share their thoughts on this remarkable victory.
Earlier in the game, Obed McCoy struck early, removing both of Desert Vipers’ openers in quick succession. However, Max Holden stood firm, anchoring the innings while keeping the scoreboard ticking. His partnership with Sam Curran stabilized the innings, ensuring a strong foundation for the death overs. Holden notched up a well-crafted half-century before falling just as he was shifting gears, but Curran took charge, unleashing his attacking instincts. Azam Khan provided the finishing touch, and together, they powered Desert Vipers to a formidable 189. While McCoy was the standout bowler for Dubai Capitals, his performance faded towards the end, allowing the Vipers to push past the 180 mark.
The missed opportunity turned out to be hugely costly as Powell took charge, while Hope played the perfect supporting role. The duo added a crucial 80-run stand, not only rescuing the innings but also bringing the chase back on track. Hope departed, and Dasun Shanaka couldn’t contribute much, but Powell kept the Capitals in the hunt. However, his dismissal at a crucial stage once again put the chase in doubt. Just when the pressure was mounting, Sikandar Raza stepped up, delivering a breathtaking counterattack to finish the game in emphatic fashion, sealing the title for Dubai Capitals.
