Jess Jonassen wins the Player of the Match award. She says she was surprised at the opportunity but happy to play her part. Tells the ball hold a bit on the pitch and there was something for the bowlers. Mentions she has been working with the bat for a long time but is happy to get the job done for the team. Feels they have all the bases covered and it's nice to have so many options.
Meg Lanning says the bowlers set the game up for them. Adds there was a bit for the bowlers, bit of swing but good contest between bat and ball. Shares it's about improving in each game and gathering some momentum. Ends by appreciating the fielding from Prasad. She says she is looking forward to the next matches.
...Presentation..
Shafali Verma is up for a chat. She says it was hard to play the new ball but tried to asses the conditions and play. Shares she is gutted not to get a fifty but happy to play a part in the win. Tells the bowlers shares everytime if there is something happening with the ball which helps the batters later.
Ash Gardner says Delhi have four international quicks which was challenging, they bowled really well. Shares Dottin, Bharti Fulmali showed a lot of promise. Mentions it was disappointing to see the top order fall but happy for middle orders to step up. Tells it was a surprise to see Jess Jonassen bat up the order. Feels they weren't able to asses conditions. Admits they are losing a lot of wickets in the Powerplay in every game and need to do better.
Can’t really blame the Gujarat bowlers, they just didn’t have enough on the board. They began well with the ball but couldn’t keep it and they were beaten quite easily. Kashvee Gautam was really impressive. She made most of the new ball but others lost all hope very early on. It is their batting once again which will take the headlines. It's worrying now. They have not been able to fire. Laura Wolvaardt was dropped today but got no returns from her replacement, Phoebe Litchfield. A lot to ponder upon for Gujarat who remains at the root of the table.
An easy win for Delhi then! They go on top of the table. The total Gujarat got was never going to be a challenge! They lost a couple early but Verma and Jess Jonassen put up a stand which killed the game. Verma fell just short of her fifty but the others came in and finished it off. Jess Jonassen though was the mainstay. She was promoted up the order to play the right-left combination and it paid the dividends. It won't be a surprise if Jess Jonassen nails the spot for herself from now on.
