Right then, that is it from this exciting contest where Dindigul confirms their spot in Qualifier 1 against Kovai while Salem ends their campaign with a defeat. However, the action in the Tamil Nadu T20 League continues on 4th July, Tuesday when Madurai takes on Tiruppur at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT), but you can join us early for all the build-up. Cheers!
Baba Indrajith is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning inning.
Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, Dindigul put on a decent score on the board thanks to fine fifty from Sunny Sandhu and a quick cameo of 25 runs off just 9 balls from R Kavin along with some contribution from the other batters. Varun Chakaravarthy was economical once again for Dindigul and picked up two wickets while Subodh Bhati also got a brace as G Kishoor chipped in with one. While chasing, it was Baba Indrajith's brilliant knock that knocked Salem out of the tournament.
Salem, on the other hand, got an early breakthrough from Sunny Sandhu but just couldn't build on that. They struggled to pick up the wickets and allowed too many runs which took the game away from them. Sandhu got another wicket but it was too little too late for them.
Dindigul would have hoped for a better start as they lost their most in-form batter, Shivam Singh S quite early but that did not affect them much. Baba Indrajith and Vimal Khumar steadied things well and put away the loose deliveries as well. Once they were set, both scored runs freely without much trouble and took the game deep. Their captain, Baba Indrajith registered his fifty but Kumar missed out on that. In the end, Indrajith remained unbeaten on 83 and took his side home.
A fine win for Dindigul! They made this chase looked like a cakewalk and their skipper, Baba Indrajith led from the front with a fabulous knock of 83 runs and now they will have two shots of making it to the final.
